Study smarter, not harder

DC CDL Practice TestStudying the DC CDL handbook cover to cover is overwhelming, and you won’t know what you actually remember until you’re sitting in front of the DMV examiner. Our free practice tests close that gap with realistic questions covering every topic you’ll face on the official exam, plus instant feedback so you know exactly where to focus.

What makes our practice tests different

Covers every endorsement you need

From General Knowledge and Air Brakes to Combination Vehicles, Tankers, HazMat, Passenger, and School Bus, we’ve built tests for every class and endorsement required in DC.

Learn from your mistakes

Every question shows you your answer, the correct answer, and a clear explanation, so wrong answers become learning moments instead of dead ends.

Built around the official DC handbook

Every test is based on the current DC CDL Manual, so you’re always studying material that reflects what’s actually on the exam.

Pre-trip inspection prep included

Beyond the written tests, we offer pre-trip inspection practice and videos to help you prepare for the hands-on portion of your CDL exam.

FAQs

How many questions are on the official DC CDL General Knowledge test?

The official test has 50 questions, and you need at least 40 correct (80%) to pass.

Do I need to take endorsement tests too?

Only if your job requires them. For example, if you’ll be hauling liquids in bulk, you’ll need to pass the Tanker endorsement test. If you’re driving a school bus, you’ll need the School Bus endorsement.

What’s the minimum age to get a CDL in DC?

You must be at least 21 years old for interstate transportation or to haul hazardous materials. For intrastate driving only, the minimum age is 18.

How is the pre-trip inspection different from the written tests?

The pre-trip inspection is an oral exam where you demonstrate your ability to check a vehicle’s parts and confirm it’s safe to drive. The number of parts you need to check depends on the vehicle’s size and type.

Are these practice tests really free?

Yes. All of our DC CDL practice tests, including General Knowledge, endorsements, and pre-trip prep, are completely free to use.
