School Bus Driver License Practice Test

It’s not uncommon for people to make their contribution to the school system in many different ways. While some people may contribute their time by teaching students in a formal classroom environment, others may decide to drive a school bus of children, to and from school. There are many different ways that people can support the children and earn money too. However, before any individual can drive a school bus filled with children from one place to another, they are required to have their CDL School Business endorsement by passing school bus endorsement test. Fulfilling these requirements does not have to be difficult if the prospective driver knows the process of what to do. Even though the requirements for each state can differ from one to another, here are some standard qualifications that people can review to ensure that they have exactly what they need.

Eligibility

Based on the state that the person has decided that they want to work in, the requirements may be a little or a lot different. So, people will need to do their homework in order to determine what kinds of eligibility requirements that they will need to meet. For instance, in the state of New York, a school bus driver will need to:
Apply for their CDL “S” endorsement if they want to drive for this school system. Typically, there is at least one exception to getting this endorsement, which is already having the P endorsement for driving passengers. Meaning one of the two CDL licenses is sufficient to meet the minimum licensure requirements for driving an NYS school bus.

There are three types of CDL classes that determine the type of vehicle you may drive and how much you may tow. A Class A CDL class allows you to operate a vehicle with a GCWR of 26,001 if the vehicle you tow weighs more than 10,000 and a Class B CDL allows you to operate a vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds or operate any vehicle towing another vehicle that weighs less than 10,000 GVWR. With a Class C CDL, you can operate a Class C vehicle that transports hazardous materials.
